Brief History of the Institute :-
The institute lies in a place of very high cultural heritage importance and a special geographical position on the map , BASTAR . Bastar is famous not only in the nation but its fame has taken it to a level of international importance where this world recognizes Bastar due to its varied cultural heritage and various topographical specialties like dense forest and beautiful rivers touching the feet of sky kissing sal trees standing upright in the jungle challenging the height of any sky scrapper in the metropolitans. The district of Bastar has very high prospects in terms of jobs and development . by keeping this factor in mind the state govt. introduced polytechnic institute for girls in the year 1989-90 with branches like commercial practice, to educate the women folk of the region in terms of technical education . Since then the institute has matched step to step with the fast pace of development with the ongoing changes in the world of technical education.
Technical education in the industrial scenario :-
Iron ore and forest produces are available in abundant in the district out of which 44% is forest produces. Bastar district is a tribal district where education and employment are a bit neglected factors. Specially the education level of girls is very low as compare to boys. More than 60% of population is living below the poverty line due to lack of industries and different scope for employment. Considering this scenario, providing technical and job oriented courses to girls in this region becomes essential. There is an ample scope for big industries for setting up their plants in Bastar region and NMDC is the one to start this campaign. This will surely attract other small and big industries to establish here and set various job opportunities for young technical aspirants.
